Objectives
The project aims to inform students on marine plastic pollution and promote a zero plastic lifestyle among them through experiential learning, as well as to monitor and evaluate the enforcement of particular measures aiming to the mitigation of Single-use Plastic impacts, with a focus on those that provide motives to the consumers towards zero waste choices.
Description
The awareness-raising campaign against plastic debris and microplastics in the Greek seas, #zeroplastic, started on 2019 including multiple actions with the aim to inform the public about the problem of plastic pollution and its effects on marine life, to promote a zero waste lifestyle and to make the public aware of the most recent legal framework and strategies for the mitigation of marine plastic pollution. Since 2020, the project continued with a special focus to raise awareness about plastic pollution to the tourism industry and in 2021 it also expanded in Cyprus in order to motivate the public to adopt a zero waste lifestyle through artworks in public spaces and open public events.
Since then, the campaign continued with a focus on raising awareness about the issue among the next generation with school visits and actions that actively involve school aged kids and educators.
